“Risk management in well integrity is an increasingly central topic for safe and efficient offshore operations, and we have been investing in developing capabilities and solutions in this area.” This statement by Pedro Perez, risk and operational safety director at EnvironPact, sums up the tone of the discussions currently shaping the oil and gas industry.
Given the complexity of subsea operations and evolving regulatory requirements, well integrity is no longer just an operational challenge—it has become a strategic pillar grounded in rigorous methods and processes. In this context, EnvironPact, OceanPact’s technical consulting arm, took part in “Subsea Well Intervention and Well Integrity,” a workshop recently held by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) in Rio de Janeiro.
Our risk and integrity manager, Jorge Siqueira, participated in the panel “Integration of Risk Assessment into Well Integrity Management Systems,” alongside specialists from Petrobras and Shell.
He presented work related to the development of the “Booklet of Best Practices for Well Integrity Risk Assessment,” a joint industry initiative promoted by SPE and the Brazilian Oil and Gas Institute (IBP), and led by Danilo Colombo, a reliability and risk consultant at Petrobras.
“The objective of the initiative is to strengthen governance and alignment between risk assessment and barrier element management, helping ensure well integrity throughout the life cycle,” said Siqueira.
EnvironPact has also been closely involved in this initiative, supporting discussions on best practices for risk management in well integrity.
“The future points to this combination of technology, rigorous risk assessment methodologies and efficient integrity management processes,” Pedro Perez added.
