Érik Cunha, our commercial and marketing director, shared his vision of the challenges facing the oil and gas sector in new exploration frontiers, the need for innovation and training in local supply chains, and the importance of environmental knowledge in achieving more agile licensing processes during Offshore Week 2025, an event organized by the energy news agency eixos.
During his presentation, Cunha highlighted the need to invest in continuous monitoring of Brazil’s Equatorial Margin region and reported on the contrast between productive potential and logistical challenges in Guyana.
“The Equatorial Margin remains a knowledge frontier in terms of biodiversity. The available information is limited and indicates that there is still a vast biological heritage to be identified and understood. Environmental licensing for the Equatorial Margin requires robust studies. Marine data collection and environmental monitoring technologies play a key role in this process, as they allow us to expand our knowledge of biodiversity, map ocean current patterns more accurately and understand the oceanographic dynamics of the region. In Guyana, although production has grown significantly, the country’s infrastructure and supply chain are still insufficient, making planning and local content development essential,” he said.
In Brazil, Cunha pointed out that although the country has a well-established regulatory framework and robust suppliers, new frontiers require strategic planning and regional development.
OceanPact’s participation in Offshore Week 2025 reflected the company’s commitment to innovation, sustainability and integrated solutions, contributing to the safe and responsible growth of the oil and gas sector.
