At Mole Beach in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, OceanPact is supporting the final stage of the Dream Tour, Brazil’s national surfing championship, with technology and innovation. Using our OceanPact SeaSpot app, athletes and spectators can track sea conditions in real time with detailed, up-to-date forecasts for the competition, which will end on 17 November.
SeaSpot aggregates meteorological and oceanographic data for beaches in the states of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Espírito Santo, displaying information such as wave height and direction, water temperature and quality, wind strength and UV index.
The app also includes an interactive map of nearby beaches and provides forecasts up to 14 days ahead, powered by the SOPHIA system developed together with our partner AtmosMarine.
SOPHIA is a system that performs meteorological and oceanographic forecasting using a hybrid approach, combining measurement data with numerical and statistical modeling. It seeks to provide more accurate regional forecasts in order to support planning in the areas of renewable energy, navigation, offshore operations and climate resilience.
