OceanPact attends Colacmar-CBO 2024

OceanPact took part in the 20th Latin American Marine Science Congress (Colacmar) and the 8th Brazilian Oceanography Congress (CBO), in Itajaí, Santa Catarina, between August 13 and 16, 2024.

“Our goal is to put Brazil on the world map for oceanography, geophysics, environmental and ocean technology trade shows,” said Carlos Leandro, OceanPact’s innovation business manager and technical director of AOCEANO, which organized Colacmar-CBO 2024.

A delegation of OceanPact employees attended the event, giving presentations in multiple panel discussions. The company also hosted a booth, welcoming representatives of the Brazilian Navy, environment agency IBAMA, Petrobras, BNDES, clients, partners and academia. It also supported the event as a sponsor.

Flavio Andrade, OceanPact’s CEO, took part in the opening session and moderated a panel called “Exploration Around the Mouth of the Amazon River: Myths, Facts and Interests.” He presented the Amapá Expedition, carried out a year ago by OceanPact to evaluate the best ways to measure marine currents in the Equatorial Margin region.

The panel’s speakers were Ricardo Pires, director of Cabo Orange National Park and an employee of the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio); Daniele Lomba, licensing and environment manager at Petrobras; André Bueno of the Petrobras Research Center (Cenpes); João Luiz de Carvalho of Maranhão Federal University; and Allan Kardec Duailibe of natural gas company GASMAR.
