OceanPact drives international ocean agenda at pre-G20 event

This year’s G20 summit, which will take place in November in Rio de Janeiro, marks the culmination of work led by Brazil in its rotating presidency of the group. The meeting is an opportunity to promote environmental solutions, as it is the moment when heads of state and government formalize agreements already negotiated and define ways to tackle global challenges.

Committed to promoting the sustainable use and protection of marine resources, OceanPact is supporting a conference called “Navigating the Oceans Toward the G20 Agenda,” which will take place on Thursday, November 13 at Fundação Getulio Vargas, a university and think tank in Rio de Janeiro. Flavio Andrade, the company’s CEO, will take part in a panel on the Ocean-Based Economy, while the head of OceanPact’s Services Segment, Adriano Ranieri, will participate in a panel on Marine Spatial Planning.

The conference will also discuss how to ensure that ocean issues remain high on international agendas; the interconnection between climate change and the oceans; and how scientific and technological innovations can be applied to monitor, protect and restore the oceans.

The event, organized by the Rio de Janeiro-based National Ocean Research Institute, will bring together representatives of G20 and Oceans20 (O20) member countries, in order to strengthen the ocean theme on global sustainability and environment agendas.
