Sailboats, teamwork and a shared mission: to make the sea cleaner. That spirit guided the OceanPact Ecological Regatta, held on November 7 at Glória Marina in Rio de Janeiro, in partnership with the Brazilian Sailing Confederation’s “Sailing for the Future” project – an initiative we are proud to support.
The event brought together 20 OceanPact employee volunteers and 20 children and teenagers involved in the project, who set out in four sailboats to collect waste in Guanabara Bay, including near Glória Marina and Rio de Janeiro Modern Art Museum. Over the course of an hour and a half, they collected around 30 kg of trash, including plastic bags and bottles, wood scraps, coconuts and food packaging.
More than a cleanup effort, the regatta offered a moment of awareness raising and connection with the sea, highlighting the importance of protecting the marine environment – home to fish, turtles and many other species that could be seen during the event.
We remain committed to the belief that small actions can generate meaningful impact, and that every gesture counts when it comes to safeguarding the oceans.
