Emotion, dedication and partnership were the essence of two Subsea Workshops held at Maria Leopoldina Municipal School in Glória, Rio de Janeiro on May 21 and June 4. During these events, which were organized jointly by the company’s Subsea and Corporate Social Responsibility areas, we presented seven bicycles and seven skateboards to pupils.
Under the guidance of trained professionals, the bikes and skateboards were assembled by subsea operations employees, who are accustomed to handling our vessels’ high-tech remotely operated vehicles (ROVs). They treated this special task with the same care and attention. In addition to giving gifts to the children, the activity also strengthened team spirit among employees.
The moment of delivery was emotional. Boys and girls climbed onto the bicycles and skateboards with sparkling eyes, delighted with their gifts.
“I can’t believe I got a bike. Is it a gift for life?” asked one of the children.
The initiative was supported by Rio Education Partners, an NGO that has been working since 2009 to transform public sector education in the city of Rio de Janeiro. More than 38,000 students have already been impacted and 1,700 educators trained. OceanPact is proud to have been one of its institutional supporters since 2024, sponsoring Maria Leopoldina Municipal School.
This symbolic initiative helps us continue to believe that it is possible to generate a positive impact on land as well as at sea, strengthening our community through the combination of technical knowledge, solidarity and commitment to the future.
