On August 7, João Serra, commercial director of OceanPact’s Navigation Business Unit, moderated a panel called “Subsea Infrastructure: Exploring Opportunities in the Brazilian Subsea Market” during EIC Connect Energy Brazil 2025. The event was held by the Energy Industries Council (EIC) in Rio de Janeiro.
The panel brought together executives from Petrobras, Baker Hughes, Subsea 7 and EIC to discuss the current situation in the Subsea Umbilicals, Risers and Flowlines (SURF) and Subsea Production Systems (SPS) markets in Brazil. The topics covered included the domestic industry’s competitive potential, innovations in subsea infrastructure and opportunities for suppliers and operators in Brazil and abroad.
“Brazil will be one of the largest and fastest-growing subsea markets in the world in the coming years. Thanks to strong demand from Petrobras in the pre-salt layer, the companies represented on this panel have developed world-class subsea technology in Brazil, with global relevance. This has established our industry as a technological leader and makes the development of new oil and gas ventures in the country technically and economically viable,” said Serra.
In addition to panels, the event featured business networking sessions and strategic discussions on exploration and production, natural gas, refining, and emerging energy sources such as offshore wind, biofuels, hydrogen and carbon capture.
