OceanPact supports Mubadala Brazil SailGP Team, led by two-time Olympic champion Martine Grael

OceanPact, a company that is a leader in knowledge of the sea and a supporter of nautical and aquatic sports, is backing the Mubadala Brazil SailGP Team in the largest and most technological international sailing racing competition: SailGP. This event is contested by the world’s sporting elite in high-performance F50 catamarans, which can reach up to 100 km per hour and fly on the water. The first stage of the season – as this high-speed regatta is called – will take place on November 23 and 24 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The Mubadala Brazil SailGP Team will be led by two-time Olympic sailing champion Martine Grael, the first woman to hold the position of skipper on a boat in the history of the competition. The championship is made up of 12 teams from different countries, with six people on each team. This is also the first time that Brazil has taken part in SailGP, which is now in its fifth edition.

To help understand the influence of multiple variables on the performance of the Mubadala Brazil SailGP Team, OceanPact will support the Brazilian team with engineers and data scientists to analyze the information collected by more than 120 sensors on each boat in the competition. OceanPact oceanographers will reinforce this analysis with current, wind and wave forecasts.

“We’re excited to be part of this milestone for sailing and for our Brazilian athletes. SailGP is like the Formula 1 of sailing. It brings together everything we believe in: technology, innovation, knowledge of the sea, sport and efficiency. Through this partnership, OceanPact wants to help boost national sport and advanced technology on this spectacular stage that is the sea,” says Flavio Andrade, the CEO of OceanPact and a sailor.

The SailGP stage in Brazil will be held by IMM on Guanabara Bay in Rio de Janeiro in May 2025. Local residents and visitors will be able to watch the spectacle along the entire shore of the bay.
