OceanPact takes part in 11th World Ocean Summit

The restoration of marine and coastal ecosystems, blue carbon, ocean energy and sustainable maritime transportation were the subjects of presentations and debates that OceanPact’s sustainability and new business director, Fernando Borensztein, attended during the 11th World Ocean Summit in Lisbon. Held by the Economist Group, the event brought together global leaders and experts to discuss initiatives involving the transition to a sustainable ocean economy.

“The Blue Economy holds untapped potential and Brazil has all the necessary conditions to lead this agenda further,” Borensztein said. “At OceanPact we are investing in efforts to learn about, measure and monitor the oceans, in order to gain a broader understanding of their relationship with climate issues.”

Every year, the World Ocean Summit offers the opportunity to evaluate new partnerships, solutions and strategies to meet the sustainable development goals of the United Nation’s 2030 Agenda. OceanPact considers the 17 Sustainable Development Goals proposed by the UN in all its activities, with an emphasis on UN Sustainable Development Goal 14 – Life Below Water.
