OceanPact Tide of Good mobilizes blood donations during “Red June”

A single bag of blood can save up to four lives. Driven by this knowledge, OceanPact supported this year’s “Red June” awareness campaign through its Tide of Good initiative, carried out jointly by the company’s sustainability and occupational health areas.

In partnership with transfusion medicine company Pulsa Rio and with the support of NGO Hemocione (@hemocione), the campaign brought a mobile blood collection unit to OceanPact’s head office in Glória, Rio de Janeiro, making it easier for scores of employees to donate blood.

“I was very happy to learn about this initiative. I’ve been a blood donor since I was 18, but in some periods I stopped donating, when I didn’t have time to go to a blood bank. So, this campaign was wonderful,” said Fernanda Maria, sustainability analyst at EnvironPact.

The Tide of Good event took place on World Blood Donor Day, as part of a global campaign to raise awareness of the importance of keeping blood banks stocked. By the end of the day, 99 units of blood had been collected, exceeding all expectations.

“It was exciting to see so many people involved, whether donating for the first time or continuing with their ongoing practice of solidarity. Facilitating this type of access is essential to creating a culture of collective care,” said Letícia Mendes, OceanPact’s sustainability manager.

The campaign also provided guidance on the donation process. Women can donate up to three times a year and men can do so up to four times.
