Get ready for a lot of adrenaline on the waves of Rio de Janeiro. The last stage of the 2024 Dream Tour, the Brazilian Surfing Circuit, will stir up the waters of São Conrado Beach from November 26 to December 2. OceanPact, a leader in ocean knowledge and a promoter of aquatic and nautical sports, is one of the Dream Tour’s supporters and will be providing the meteorological and oceanographic forecasts for the event.
The Dream Tour’s final stage will benefit from OceanPact’s forecasts, based on real-time data on the size and direction of waves and wind, measured by two buoys located 1 km offshore, as well as cameras. This will allow for strategic assessments for the athletes.
Throughout the competitions, Lauro Souza, founder of SurfConnect, and oceanographer Henrique Pereira, one of the founders of AtmosMarine, an OceanPact partner company, will provide OceanPact and spectators with live commentary on the forecasts.
Surfing, a true national phenomenon, has already brought Brazil seven world titles and three Olympic medals. The Brazilian Circuit, held again after 10 years without any competitions in the country, is part of the sport’s growth in Brazil. The championship has encouraged new talents, such as Tainá Hinckel, Brazilian champion in 2023 and Brazil’s representative at the 2024 Olympic Games, and has also supported experienced athletes, such as world champion Mineirinho and six-time Brazilian champion Silvana Lima.
Don’t miss out! Go and cheer on the Brazilian surfers. It’s an opportunity to see one of the projects supported by OceanPact up close and enjoy this thrilling sport.
