The combination of technology, data intelligence and operational capabilities was the focus of OceanPact’s participation in the seminar “Horizons of the Blue Economy – The Equatorial Margin as a Driver of National Development,” held on June 26. The event was organized by the Brazilian Navy’s Directorate of Ports and Coasts.

Érik Fabian Cunha, OceanPact’s commercial, marketing and new business director, delivered the presentation “The Smart Ocean: Data, Satellites, Radar and Models as the New Front Line of Environmental Protection,” highlighting how these tools are transforming environmental emergency prevention and response.

Cunha discussed the challenges facing the Equatorial Margin, the offshore region along Brazil’s northern coast, and introduced the Smart Ocean concept, which combines continuous monitoring, predictive models, data intelligence and operational capabilities to support faster decision-making and more effective emergency response.

“Emergency response depends not only on the resources available, but also on the ability to turn data into decisions,” he said.

The presentation also featured the OceanPact Digital platform, which brings together environmental monitoring, ocean forecasting, offshore operations, subsea services and emergency response solutions, reinforcing the role of innovation in protecting the ocean.
