Suriname is entering a pivotal phase in the development of its oil and gas industry, which was the focus of this year’s Suriname Energy, Oil & Gas Summit & Exhibition (SEOGS 2026). Held from June 23 to 26, the event brought together industry experts, government officials, operators and suppliers to discuss the challenges and opportunities of this new phase for the country and the Caribbean.

OceanPact participated with its team and an exhibition booth, showcasing its leading offshore solutions, including the OceanPact Digital platform. The company’s booth also welcomed Suriname’s president, Jennifer Geerlings-Simons.

Eduardo Farina, general manager of OceanPact Guyana, joined the Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) panel, where he presented OceanPact Digital. He explained how the platform integrates operational, environmental and oceanographic data to enhance situational awareness, support decision-making and improve the efficiency and safety of offshore operations.

“As projects move forward and scale up, data-driven solutions and real-time monitoring become increasingly important to ensure safe, efficient and environmentally responsible operations,” he said.

The panel brought together experts to discuss topics including workforce development, emergency response, environmental management, oil spill prevention and new technologies aimed at improving operational safety.

Over the course of the four-day event, SEOGS demonstrated that Suriname is moving from the discovery phase to the implementation of major projects, with a strong focus on governance and sustainable value creation.
